warpgate

Build notes for warpgate, a smart SSH/HTTP/MySQL bastion. This repository holds no upstream source, only the steps to compile it.

Requirements

A Linux system with:

• a Rust toolchain (cargo, rustc) — from the distribution or from https://rustup.rs
• Node.js and npm, for the web frontend
• just — packaged by most distributions, otherwise cargo install just
• git, and a C toolchain and pkg-config for the crates that link against system libraries

Build

git clone https://github.com/warp-tech/warpgate
cd warpgate
just npm ci
just openapi
just npm run build
cargo build --release

The last step fails on a stable toolchain: the tree uses nightly-only features. Run it again with the bootstrap flag set, which lets a stable rustc compile them:

RUSTC_BOOTSTRAP=1 cargo build --release

The binary lands in target/release/warpgate.
